They Had Nothing But God: How a Small Prayer Meeting Changed the World

What if you already have everything you need for God to use you?

Many believers feel like they are waiting for something more before they can step into their calling.

More confidence, resources, clarity and experience.

But throughout history, God has consistently used ordinary people with very little to accomplish extraordinary things.

One of the most powerful examples is the story of the Moravians.

The Moravians Had Nothing But God

In 1727, a small group of persecuted Christian refugees settled in Herrnhut, Germany after fleeing religious persecution in what is now the Czech Republic.

They had no money, no influence, and no security.

But they had one thing the world could not take from them: the presence of God.

Rather than focusing on what they lacked, they devoted themselves to prayer.

On August 13, 1727, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully among them during a communion service. What followed was remarkable: a 24-hour prayer meeting that continued nonstop for more than 100 years.

This prayer movement helped launch the modern missionary movement and ignited revivals that continue to impact hundreds of millions of Christians around the world today.

When God Is All You Have, He Is All You Need

The Moravians remind us of a timeless spiritual truth:

When God is all you have, you discover He is all you need.

They did not wait until circumstances were ideal.

They did not wait until they had more resources.

They simply stayed close to God, listened to His voice, and obeyed.

And history changed.

Feeling Underqualified or Under-Resourced?

God is not limited by what you lack.

He is looking for surrendered hearts that trust His Spirit more than their own strength.

As Zechariah 4:6 says:

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.

Your greatest limitation may actually become the very place where God demonstrates His power.

“Show me that You are enough.”

Father, help me stop waiting for more and trust that You are enough. Teach me to rely on Your Spirit instead of my own strength. Use my life for Your purposes, even when I feel like I have little to offer. Amen.
